Paul Weilenmann

Paul Weilenmann (born May 14, 1925 in Zurich ; † January 19, 2014 there ; legal resident in Hofstetten ) was a Swiss economist and professor of business administration at the University of Zurich from 1970 to 1991 .

Life

The son of a coppersmith first completed a commercial apprenticeship and worked as a commercial employee from 1944 . At the same time, he made up his Matura on the second educational path at the evening high school . He then studied at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1952 as a business teacher. In the same year he got a job as a main teacher at the commercial school of the Commercial Association of Zurich , where he had been working as an assistant teacher since 1947. In 1958 he founded the commercial management school of the KV Zurich, of which he was head and where he worked as a teacher on preparatory courses for the federal diploma examinations for accountants / controllers . In 1969 he was awarded a doctorate by Karl Käfer at the University of Zurich. oec. publ. PhD.

In 1970 the University of Zurich appointed him associate professor for "business administration, especially accounting , including training for business teachers". In 1973 he was promoted to full professor . As the successor to Käfer, he also took over the management of the university's commercial science department. His main research interests were cash flow accounting , planning accounting and management accounting . Under his leadership, university training for managers was greatly expanded, and in 1988 he was the first president of the executive committee for management training at the University of Zurich. Also in 1988 Weilenmann was awarded the Dr. Kausch Prize from the University of St. Gallen . In 1991 he retired.

Weilenmann was married, had two sons and lived in Adliswil .
