Paul de Borman

Paul de Borman (born December 1, 1879 in Sint-Joost-ten-Node , † April 21, 1948 in Ostend ) was a Belgian tennis player.

Life

De Borman took part in tennis tournaments from 1897. At the Wimbledon Championships he was able to advance to the semifinals in 1904, but lost there to Josiah Ritchie in three sets. In the same year he took part in the Davis Cup with his compatriot William le Maire de Warzée , but the Belgian team had to admit defeat to Great Britain in the final. He won the Belgian championships nine times in singles and three times in doubles. He last played in Wimbledon singles in 1922.

In 1908 he married Anne de Selliers de Moranville , also a tennis player who took part in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp .

De Borman was also involved in the International Tennis Federation . He was chairman in 1919 and president of the ITF in 1946 and 1947. He died in Ostend in 1948 at the age of 68.
