Paul von Schaefer

Paul Schaefer , von Schaefer since 1901 , (born July 14, 1857 in Tübingen ; † July 16, 1924 ) was a Württemberg officer , most recently a general of the infantry .

In recognition of his services, King Wilhelm II awarded him the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Württemberg Crown on May 1, 1901 . Associated with this was the elevation to the personal nobility and he was allowed to name himself after the entry in the nobility register of Schaefer .

On September 12, 1914, he was given command of the 54th Reserve Division , which was part of the XXVII. Reserve Corps took part in the First Battle of Flanders from October 20th . At the end of April 1915, his division also intervened in the second Battle of Ypres . From January 21, 1916 until the end of World War I , he served as the deputy commanding general of the XIII. (Royal Württemberg) Army Corps .
