Paul von der Nahmer

Paul von der Nahmer (born May 25, 1858 in Rheydt ; † April 15, 1921 ) was a German manager. From 1904 to 1921 he was general director of Allianz insurance in Berlin .

Life

Paul von der Nahmer was the son of the Rheydt doctor Wilhelm (* 1822) and his wife Natalie von der Nahmer (* 1836). He had three siblings, including the author Ernst von der Nahmer . His uncle was Carl von Thieme .

Nahmer was originally a banker at Deutsche Bank . In 1894 he became a board member of Allianz insurance in Berlin and was general director (chairman of the board) of Allianz from 1904 to 1921. Under him, the company had accumulated large reserves in US dollars , pounds , Swiss francs and guilders from its extensive international business . He was also on the board of Munich Re and opened the Paris branch in rue Vivienne .
