Paula Mollenhauer

Paula Mollenhauer (born December 22, 1908 in Hamburg ; † July 7, 1988 there ) was a German athlete who won the bronze medal in the discus throw at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin (38.59 - 37.45 - 33.27 - 35 , 82 - invalid - 39.80 m ).

She also achieved third place in the discus throw at the European Athletics Championships in 1938 (39.81 m). She had already taken part in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 and finished twelfth in the discus throw with 30.94 m. In 1929, 1931 and 1943 she won the German championships in the women's discus throw. She was German runner-up in 1928, 1935 and 1936, and came third in 1930, 1933, 1934 and 1938. She also took part in the first German championships of the post-war period in 1946 and came fourth.

Mollenhauer initially started for SC Victoria Hamburg (until 1935), in the meantime also for the SpVg Polizei Hamburg (3rd place at the German Athletics Championships in 1933), from 1936 for Eimsbütteler TV and later for SV St. Georg . In her active days she was 1.75 m tall and 82 kg.

Paula Mollenhauer was also a successful handball player , with the women's field handball team of SC Victoria Hamburg she won both the Hamburg and North German championships and in 1930 the German championship as a captain .
