The Paulinenschlösschen is a listed building in Bad Soden am Taunus on the edge of the old spa park and today the seat of the city's citizens' office .

construction

Duchess Pauline von Nassau lived in Reiss in April 1841 after her husband's death while taking a cure . She took a liking to the health resort and decided to have a summer residence built here. The Paulinenschlösschen was built for them in 1847.

In addition to the three-story main house, a coach house was built opposite .

Shortly before Pauline's death, she sold the property on September 24, 1855 to the balneologist Dr. Georg Thilenius . He ran a pension in the Paulinenschlösschen , which housed a number of princes, ministers, officers, princes and princesses in the 1970s and 1980s. The best-known resident was Princess Bismarck and her daughter, who lived here during their treatment in 1872. Other prominent visitors were King Wilhelm von Württemberg and Helmuth von Moltke .

Sale to the city

In 1909 the town of Bad Soden acquired the property. It was used as the town hall from 1909 to 1949, after the Second World War as a café and restaurant and later as a registry office. Today it is, among other things, the seat of the city's citizens' office.

The remise of the Paulinenschlösschen on the opposite side now houses the ecumenical diaconal station. The police and DRK station was located here until the 1970s.

The complex is supplemented by the Krug'sche Villa or Parkvilla. This building was built in 1845 for Mrs. von Krug from Darmstadt as a summer residence and was also opened in 1861 by Dr. Thilenius and sold to the city in 1909. Today there are medical practices in this house.
