Paulus Seeger

Paulus Seeger OSB (* 1691 in Gengenbach ; † 1743 there ) was abbot of the Gengenbach Imperial Abbey from 1726 to 1742 . He was a gifted painter and musician. Together with Augustin Dornblüth he was in 1711 in the monastery of Sankt Blasien in the Black Forest for training.

Abbey church

The interior of the abbey church of St. Maria from the 12th century was redesigned in the Baroque period after being destroyed and repaired twice in the 17th century and the baroque bell tower was built by Johann Jakob Rischer in the years 1714–1716 . In addition to the master builders and artists Franz Beer, Peter Beer, Philipp Winterhalder, Peter Schwab and Franz Joseph Stoeber, Father Paulus Seeger also worked here as a painter.
