Paulus Weissenberger

Paulus Weissenberger OSB (born January 14, 1902 in Kipfenberg , † December 26, 1990 in Neresheim ) was a German religious .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1921, he entered Neresheim Abbey , received the religious name Paulus and made his first profession there on September 28, 1922 . Thereupon studied philosophy in Maria Laach and theology in Beuron from 1922 to 1927 . In 1925 he made his temporary profession, on September 24, 1927 he was ordained a priest . He received an archival education at the Bavarian State Archives in Munich and studied art history at the Universities of Munich and Würzburg . In 1932 he did his doctorate at the University of Würzburg under Fritz Knapp with a thesis on the abbey church of Balthasar Neumann in Neresheim. From 1954 to 1966 he was prior and novice master in his abbey. From 1935 until his death he was the librarian and archivist of his monastery.
