Pavao Pavličić (born August 16, 1946 in Vukovar ) is a Croatian writer, writer, essayist, author, scenarioist, translator, literary theorist and university professor. He is famous for his crime novels to a wider audience. He writes for adults and children.

Life

Pavao Pavličić was born on July 16, 1946 in Vukovar. There he attended elementary school and high school. From 1965 to 1969 he studied comparative literature and Italian language and literature at the Philosophical Faculty in Zagreb . Since 1970 he has worked in the comparative literature department of the Philosophical Faculty in Zagreb. He headed the college “Comparative History of Croatian Literature” as well as “Literary Theory and Metrics”. Pavličić is the author of several studies and books on literary theory and older Croatian literature. He took part in the scientific meetings in Italy, Germany, France and Hungary.

He is one of the most prolific writers of his generation and the author of several short stories and novels. As a scriptwriter, he mainly works with Zoran Tadić . Director Tadić's film "Ritam zločina" (1981) received a prize for the scenario at the Fantasporto film festival in Porto . Pavličić's book “Stroj za maglu” was taken as the basis for this film. They also worked on the following films: "Treći ključ" (1983), "San o ruži" (1986), "Osuđeni" (1987), "Orao" (1990), "Treća Žena" (1997). In collaboration with Branko Ivanda and Ivan Kušan , he wrote the scenario for the film by director Ivanda, “Zločin u školi” (1982). Pavličić also worked with Branko Schmidt on the film "Vukovar se vraća kući" (1994). Together with Davor Žmegač he wrote the scenario for the film "Putovanje tamnom polutkom" (1995). He is also a scriptwriter for several television films and dramas.
