Pavel Bořkovec
Pavel Bořkovec (born June 10, 1894 in Prague , Austria-Hungary , † July 22, 1972 ibid) was a Czech composer .
Life
Bořkovec studied composition at the Prague Conservatory from 1918 under Josef Bohuslav Foerster and Josef Suk . After his training he lived exclusively from his compositional work. In 1937 he was made an associate member of the Czech Academy of Art and Science; from 1946 to 1967 he taught at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. His students included Pavel Blatný , Jiří Pauer , Vladimír Sommer , Petr Eben , Jan Klusák and Jan Truhlar . Among other works he composed two operas , twoPiano concerts , a concerto grosso, a ballet and five string quartets .
