Pavlina Apostolova

Pavlina Apostolova ( Macedonian Павлина Апостолова ; born May 16, 1927 in Tetovo , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † April 14, 2018 in Skopje ) was a Yugoslav opera singer (soprano). She was the prima donna of the opera stage of the Macedonian Folk Theater in Skopje, to whose ensemble she belonged from 1950 to 1983.

Life

She received singing lessons from Petar Bogdanov-Kočko , among others , as well as in Italy and Vienna . She was especially used as a lyric coloratura soprano . She made her debut as an opera singer in Skopje in 1950 in the role of Mimi in La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini . Other roles included Konstanze in The Abduction from the Seraglio by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Rosina in The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini and Abigaille in Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi ; she also played in some contemporary operas, including by Yugoslav composers. She had guest appearances at all major opera houses in Yugoslavia.
