Pavel Alexandrovich Molchanov
Pavel Molchanov ( Russian Павел Александрович Молчанов ; born February 6 . Jul / 18th February 1893 greg. In Volosovo ; † October 1941 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet meteorologist .
Pavel Moltschanow was the inventor of the radiosonde . In 1931, after an invitation from German scientists, he took part in an expedition to the Arctic on board the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin , where he made aerological observations with radiosondes. Molchanov also launched the first Soviet stratospheric balloon .
Honors
The research ship Professor Molchanov was named after him.
