Pavel Aslanbekowitsch Sofjin
Pawel Aslanbekowitsch Sofjin ( Russian Павел Асланбекович Софьин , English transcription Pavel Sofin ; born September 4, 1981 in Moscow ) is a former Russian shot putter .
At the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Sofjin was eliminated from the qualification. In 2006 he was fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow and subsequently received bronze because of Andrej Michnewitsch's doping disqualification. At the European Championships in Gothenburg , Sofjin was fifth. The following year he finished tenth at the World Championships in Osaka .
In 2008 Sofjin improved his personal records indoors to 20.68 meters ( Moscow on March 10) and outdoors to 20.63 meters ( Sochi on May 28). At the Olympic Games in Beijing , he was eighth.
