Pavel Petrovich Sykov

Pawel Petrowitsch Sykow ( Russian Павел Петрович Зыков ; * 1821 in Moscow ; † July 9th / May 21st,  1887 greg. Ibid) was a Russian architect of eclecticism and university lecturer .

Life

Sykow graduated from the Moscow court architecture school (MDAU) with a degree as an architect's assistant in 1841. From 1842 he taught at the MDAU. In addition, he taught rural architecture at the Moscow Agricultural School from 1842 to 1848. In 1843 he became a member of the MDAU conference.

From 1848 to 1867 he worked as an architect in the 3rd department for traffic and public buildings in District IV. In 1863 he was appointed college secretary (10th class ). After the closure of the MDAU in 1865, Sykov taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . From 1867 he was an extraordinary technician in the building department of the Moscow government administration (until 1878). In 1869 he became an official for special orders from the Moscow Governor General.

In the 1870s and 1880s, Sykov was one of Moscow's most sought-after architects. The Grachev Manor (Powarskaya Ulitsa 7) built in 1867 was later rebuilt. The Spass Church (1884–1885) on Bolshaya Spasskaya Ulitsa was completed by his son Pyotr Pavlovich Sykow and has not been preserved. The chapel on Nikolskaya Ulitsa, which has not been preserved, was also built by his son. The planned renovation of the Irina Church on Irinskaya Uliza was also carried out by his son (1888–1889), which was later followed by renovations. Sykov's most famous building was the bell tower of the Trifon Church on the Naprudnaja river, which was also only built by his son 1890–1895 and has not been preserved. He was also known as a master of church furnishings. He carried out more than 40 iconostasis projects.

Sykov had three sons, the architect Pyotr, the major general Viktor and the zoologist Vladimir .
