Pawel Valerjewitsch Wawilow ( Russian Павел Валерьевич Вавилов ; born August 20, 1962 in Tyumen ) is a former Russian biathlete .

Pavel Wawilow lives and trained in Tyumen. The soldier began biathlon in 1989 and started for Dynamo Tyumen . He celebrated his first major success at the first ever European Biathlon Championships in 1994 , where he won the relay race with Pawel Muslimow , Nikolai Klykow and Eduard Ryabov . He made his World Cup debut at the beginning of the 1994/95 season in Bad Gastein . His first race was an individual, which he finished in 45th. In the further course of the season, the Russian won his first World Cup points in 14th place in a sprint race in Ruhpolding . This was followed by the 1995 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz , where the Russian finished 45th in the sprint. For the first time a podium reached Wawilow in 1998 with Sergei Roschkow , Pawel Rostowzew and Alexei Kobelew as third place in a relay race in Ruhpolding. He was also fourth in two sprint races in the same place. Not much later, the Russian took part in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . In the competitions of Nozawa Onsen , he finished 53rd place in individual. After that, Wawilow was active in the World Cup for another year. At the end of his career, the 1999 Biathlon World Championships in Kontiolahti , where he was 35th in the sprint and 28th in the pursuit.
