Paz Lazaro

Paz Lázaro (born 1972 in Seville , Spain ) is a Spanish filmmaker . She has been working for the Berlin International Film Festival since 2000 . In 2018 and 2019 she was the director and curator of the Panorama section of the Berlinale .

Life

Paz Lázaro attended Munich International School from 1987 to 1991, where she graduated from high school in 1991 . From 1992 to 1998 she studied Spanish , English and sociology at the University of Munich ( Master of Arts degree ). After that, she worked in film and theater production, especially in Spain. From 2000 she worked for the Berlin International Film Festival . From 2004 to 2007 she was part of a team curator for the international short film festival Interfilm Berlin . From 2006 to 2017 she was the program manager of the Panorama section of the Berlinale. In 2018 and 2019 she was director and curator of this Berlinale section. Since 2007 she has been a member of the selection committee for the film festival competition. She has worked as a script and editing consultant for the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA) in Spain, the Instituto de Cine y Audiovisual del Uruguay (ICAU) in Uruguay and the Fondo de Promoción Cinematográfica (FOPROCINE) in Mexico.
