Pedro José Valenzuela Jáuregui

Pedro José Valenzuela Jáuregui for short Pedro J. Valenzuela (born July 29, 1797 in Guatemala City , † 1865 ) was from February 2, 1838 to July 29, 1838 Jefe Supremo of the Guatemala Province in the Central American Confederation .

Life

Valenzuela was a member of the Fiebres , as the Partido Liberal called itself at the time. At the beginning of José Mariano Felipe Gálvez's second term in office, Valenzuela was his deputy as Jefe Supremo .

On January 13, 1838, José Rafael Carrera Turcios had Guatemala City occupied by indigenous people. The Deputy Jefe Supremo of the Province of Guatemala José Gregorio Salazar Lara was murdered, Gálvez fled. On February 2, 1838, Valenzuela took office as Supremo Jefe , raised an army and put down the indigenous uprising in Guatemala City.

On February 2, 1838, the Cabildos de Españoles of Chiapas , from the western departments of Guatemala, declared Quetzaltenango, Totonicapán and Suchitepéquez-Sololá (today's departments : Huehuetenango , El Quiché , San Marcos , Quetzaltenango , Totonicapán , Sololá , Retalhulez, and Suchitep ) as Loséquez Altos (Central America) their independence. The split was sanctioned by a decree from the Partido Liberal- dominated parliament of the Central American Confederation in San Salvador.

After an uprising in July 1838, Carrera pushed through his candidate Mariano Rivera Paz from the Partido Consarvador .
