National team

Pedro Soto was only used three times in the goal of the Mexican national team. He made his debut on April 4, 1978 in a friendly against Bulgaria, which was won 3-0. The other two international appearances took place in the context of the Football World Cup in 1978 . After the actual goalkeeper José Pilar Reyes had collided with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the second round match to make it 3-0 for Germany and injured his knee, Soto came on in the 39th minute and also received three goals against Mexico's highest World Cup defeat all time. The next World Cup game against Poland (1: 3) on June 10, 1978 was also his last international match.
