Pedro Subercaseaux Errázuriz
Pedro León Maximiano María Subercaseaux Errázuriz (born December 10, 1880 in Rome , Italy , † January 3, 1956 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter who was known for his illustrative paintings on Chilean and Argentine history. Subercaseaux Errázuriz was the son of the ambassador and painter Ramón Subercaseaux Vicuña .
Life
From 1906 Subercaseaux Errázuriz worked under the pseudonym Lustig as a cartoonist for the magazine Zig Zag . From 1913 he worked as an illustrator for Pácifico Magazine .
In 1907 he married Elvira Lyon Otaegui, from whom he separated in 1920 during a trip to Europe to lead a religious life. In 1925 he wrote an anthology of his own watercolors with poems by the Danish poet Johannes Jørgensen about Francis of Assisi in England . In 1938 he returned to Chile with the task of founding a Benedictine monastery in Santiago.
