Pedro de Zúñiga y de la Cueva , 1st Marqués de Flores de Avila, 5th Lord of Flores Dávila also called Pedro de Zúñiga Palomeque y Cabeza de Vaca (* in Flores de Avila ; † October 21, 1631 ) was 1605 to 1609 and 1612 Ambassador of Philip III. of Spain with James I of England .

Life

His father was the fourth lord of Flores Dávila, Diego de Zúñiga Palomeque y Nieto de Benavides.

In 1583 Pedro de Zúñiga y de la Cueva was in command of Almendralejo , in 1605 in charge of Bienservida and in 1609 of Corral de Almaguer . Pedro de Zúñiga y de la Cueva reported from London on the British settlement of Virginia and recommended that Spain intervene. He was a knight of the Order of Santiago . and adviser to Philip III. of Spain, who on April 11, 1612 awarded him the title of Marqués de Flores Dávila .

Since he died childless, his sister Catalina II became Marquesa de Flores Dávila, Catalina de Zúñiga Palomeque y Cabeza de Vaca.
