Pee Wee Moore
Pee Wee Moore (* as Numa Smith Moore on 5. March 1928 in Raleigh (North Carolina) ; † 13. April 2009 there) was an American jazz - baritone saxophonist of modern jazz . He played with Dizzy Gillespie .
Moore first worked at Lucky Millinder (1950–51); Louis Jordan (1951), Illinois Jacquet (1952). He then played in James Moody's band until 1956, and with Dizzy Gillespie from 1956 to 1957 . In 1957 he was involved in the recording of Mary Lou Williams ' Zodiac Suite with her and the Gillespie Orchestra. In the 1970s he moved back to his hometown, worked during the day and only played on the side. His papers are part of Duke University's jazz collection .
