Peer Fischer (physicist)

Peer Fischer (* 1972 in Augsburg ) is a German physicist at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart and the Institute for Physical Chemistry at the University of Stuttgart .

life and work

Peer Fischer studied physics at Imperial College London with a Bachelor of Science degree. Until 1999 he did his PhD in the research group of A. David Buckingham at the University of Cambridge . He then took up a position as a DAAD (NATO) Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University and headed an independent research group at the Rowland Institute at Harvard University as part of a Junior Research Fellowship for five years .

In 2009 Peer Fischer moved to Germany and founded a research group in the field of photonics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques in Freiburg. Since 2011 he has headed the research group for micro, nano and molecular systems at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart and since 2013 he has been a professor at the University of Stuttgart .
