Pelageja Sergejewna Telegina ( Russian Пелагея Сергеевна Телегина , mostly Pelageja , English transcription Pelageya Sergeyevna Telegina ; born July 14, 1986 in Novosibirsk ) is a Russian singer. Their repertoire includes folk songs from different nations in different languages, Russian romances and pieces written by group members, mostly in rock style.

life and career

Pelageja's mother Svetlana Gennadijewna Chanowa ( Russian Светлана Геннадиевна Ханова ) is her daughter's producer and art director. Before that she worked as a jazz singer, theater director and performance artist. Pelageja's father is unknown. At the age of 8, she began taking music lessons at the Novosibirsk Conservatory. In 1996, at the age of 9, she won the title “Best Folk Song Singer in Russia” in a television competition. At the age of 10, she signed a contract with FeeLee Records, as a result of which her family moved to Moscow . At the age of 14, she completed her school education and began studying at the Russian Academy of Theater Arts , which she graduated with honors in 2005.

In 1997 she sang at the 850th anniversary concert at Moscow's 850th Anniversary Pageant . Jacques Chirac , Helmut Kohl and Boris Jelzin were present at their appearance . This was followed by television appearances as members of the Novosibirsk State University .

In July 1999 she was invited by Mstislav Rostropovich to the music festival in France . There she performed together with Yevgeny Kissin , Ravi Shankar and BB King . In an interview with French newspaper journalists, Galina Vishnevskaya , Rostropovich's wife, described Pelageja as the “future of world opera”. In 2000 Pelageja formed a band under her name.

In 2009, Pelageja was voted “Best Female Soloist of the Year” in a poll by the radio station Nasche Radio . In January 2010 she took part in Bobby McFerrin's Bobble project . In 2012 and 2013 Pelageja participated in the Russian talent show Golos (The Voice) as a trainer. Since 2014 she has been a coach at Golos Deti ( The Voice Kids ). In 2015 Pelageja received the national, Russian music award in the category of best folk singer.

Personal life

In 2010, Pelageja married the television director Dmitry Efimovich. They divorced two years later.

Pelageja is a vegetarian .
