Pelargonium caylae is a plant of the genus Pelargonium ( Pelargonium ) within the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae). It is native to Madagascar .

Vegetative characteristics
Pelargonium caylae grows as an upright, little branched and evergreen shrub with a height of up to 80 centimeters. The shoots are only slightly succulent . The simple, soft and velvety leaves, heaped at the shoot tips, have a heart-shaped leaf blade . The leaf margin is notched.
Generative characteristics
The unbranched inflorescence contains up to 15 individual flowers. The flower cup is 16 to 18 millimeters long and the narrow, egg-shaped sepals are lashed on the edge. The five mauve-colored petals are narrow, inverted triangular and wavy at the edges. The top two are gradually bent back by 90 °, the bottom three continuously bent back by almost 180 °. There are five fertile stamens , four of which are of equal length and one is slightly longer. The pollen is colored orange.
Chromosome number
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.
Occurrence
The range of Pelargonium caylae is in the southeast of Madagascar, in the Sakamalio valley. The plants are only known from this location.
Systematics
It was first described as Pelargonium caylae in 1935 by Henri Jean Humbert . The species belongs to the section Ciconium (Sweet) Harvey .
