Pelargonium trifoliolatum belonging to the genus Pelargonium within the family of geraniaceae (Geraniaceae). The species was first described by Ecklon and Zeyher in 1835 as Hoarea trifoliolata .

description

Vegetative characteristics

The species grows as a deciduous geophyte . The plant has an underground tuber. The above-ground, pinnate leaves are up to 25 centimeters high. The leaflets are ovate, pointed and hairy with glands.

Generative characteristics

The inflorescence is branched with (3) 5 to 14 (20) single flowers. The five petals are cream, yellow, or pink.

Chromosome number

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 44.

Distribution and location

The home of the plants is the South African province of Western Cape in the southwest of the republic.
