The Pelican Lake is a lake in Otter Tail County in the US state of Minnesota .
The lake is located between the two small towns of Detroit Lakes in the northeast and Pelican Rapids in the south. It is traversed by the Pelican River from Little Pelican Lake in the northeast to Lake Lizzie in the south . Pelican Lake is located in the catchment area of the Otter Tail River , a headwaters of the Red River of the North . The 16 km² lake is at an altitude of 402 m .
The lake is heavily used for recreational activities. In the lake there are glass ey perch , pike , muscle lung and the bluegill species Lepomis macrochirus .
In 2012, the zebra mussel , an invasive neozoon , was discovered in the lake.
