The Pelican River is a river in Becker County and Otter Tail Counties in the US state of Minnesota .
The Pelican River rises north of Detroit Lakes . It flows mainly in a southerly direction. It flows through a number of lakes, including Detroit Lake , Lake Sallie , Lake Melissa , Pelican Lake , Lake Lizzie and Prairie Lake . The Pelican River finally flows into the Otter Tail River west of Fergus Falls .
