The Pelicans are a Finnish ice hockey club from Lahti that plays in the Liiga . The Pelicans play their home games in Isku Areena .
history
The Pelicans were founded in 1996, but existed under numerous other names before that. The history of the association began in 1891 when the Viipurin Reipas were founded. In 1950 these were renamed Lahden Reipas. In 1975 they renamed themselves again, this time in Kiekko-Reipas. From 1989 to 1992 they played under the name Hockey-Reipas. They then carried the name Reipas Lahti until 1996.
But the many name changes did not lead to success either. So far, the Pelicans have not won gold, silver or bronze medals at the Finnish championship of the SM-liiga. Only at the first Finnish ice hockey championship in 1928 in the SM-sarja were they champions.
