Life

Conversion to Christianity

Penina was born into a non-religious Jewish family in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, which she later stated was lacking in spirituality. After a traumatic childhood of parental divorce, neglect from working mother and sexual abuse, alcohol and other drugs , Penina enthusiastically turned to evangelical Christianity at age 16 and was baptized. She then attended Miami Christian College (now Trinity University ), where she earned a Bible Certificate. In college, she was certified in the Evangelism Explosion (EE) program and trained as a minister. She was a multiple counselor for the Billy Graham Crusade and was also certified as a critical pregnancy counselor. Her enthusiasm was so great that her sister and her parents also led to Christianity, who then remarried.

Shortly after leaving Miami Christian College, Penina married Paul Taylor, who had attended the Moody Bible Institute. Both worked as laypeople in leadership positions in various churches.

Messianic Judaism

In 1991 Paul and Penina came into contact with Messianic Jews and together with Penina's parents founded the messianic congregation Knesset Hashuvim in Bowie , Maryland . During this time Penina began reading books on Jewish Orthodoxy. All four church leaders adopted the concept of "Torah Observant Messianic Judaism". Penina's father Yeshayahu Heiliczer founded the Association of Torah Observant Messianics (ATOM).

From Messianic Judaism to Orthodox Judaism

After moving to Baltimore , Maryland in 2000 , Paul and Penina began attending an Orthodox synagogue where the rabbi introduced them to the then director of the Jews for Judaism , Mark Powers. After talking to Powers, Penina rejected all forms of Christianity and turned to Orthodox Judaism . Her parents and children also turned to Orthodox Judaism.

Later career

In 2009 Penina published her first book, Coming Full Circle: A Jewish Woman's Journey through Christianity and Back , in which she describes her spiritual journey through Evangelical Christianity and Messianic Judaism to Orthodox Judaism.

In 2011 Penina published her second book, Scripture Twisting , in which she reviews the Christian claim to Jesus as Messiah and takes the Jewish standpoint.

Penina lectures at Jewish centers and yeshivas around the world .

She has also been addressing issues of personal growth, marriage, and human relationships for some time.
