Pennant is one of the 260 villages in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan . It is to the southeast of the Census Division No. 8 , in the parish of Riverside No. 168 .
history
Today's place originally emerged from a train station that was established in 1911 under the name Java . The railway line operated by the Canadian Pacific Railway runs from Swift Current to Empress in the neighboring province of Alberta .
A year later, the Order-in-Council founded the Rural Municipality of Riverside No. 168. After the establishment of this community, the Java halt was renamed Pennant (German: Pennant ). The influx of settlers from Europe and the surrounding regions the village mid-1910s was given the status as a village ( Village ).
After the Second World War, construction began on Highway 32 , which connects the communities of Leader and Swift Current . At Pennant it runs right next to the railway line and there intersects with the main Grid Road.
geography
The village has an area of approx. 65 km² and is at an altitude of 58 m above sea level. Pennant is located in a region that is predominantly characterized by pastures, meadows, grain fields and sand hills. Wheat cultivation is a significant part of Canada's agricultural sector and is an important employer in the region.

Demographics
According to the 2016 census, there are currently around 130 people in Pennant. According to the 2011 census, the population was 120 people, increasing the population by 8.3%.
