Penny Gillies
Penny Gillies (actually Penelope Elizabeth Gillies, née McCallum; * July 20, 1951 ) is a former Australian hurdler who specialized in the 100-meter distance and because of her sprinting ability also in the 4-by-100-meter Relay was used.
In 1969 she won silver at the Pacific Conference Games , in 1970 she was fourth at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh , and in 1972 she was eliminated from the Olympic Games in Munich in the preliminary stages.
In 1979 she was sixth at the Athletics World Cup in Montreal , and in 1980 she failed again in the preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Moscow . At the Athletics World Cup in Rome in 1981 , she was fifth in the 100 m hurdles and with the oceanic 4 x 100 meter relay.
She was five times Australian champion over 100 m hurdles (1972, 1977, 1979-1981).
