Pentti Kirstilä
Pentti Olavi Kirstilä (born May 26, 1948 in Turku ) is a Finnish author of crime novels . Today he lives as a freelance writer in Helsinki .
Kirstilä's first crime thriller, Jäähyväiset rakkaimmalle , was published in 1977 (actually “Farewell to my loved ones”; German title: Nightshade ), followed by eleven other novels about the illusion-free and solitary criminal sergeant-major Lauri Hanhivaara. It took almost 30 years for Pentti Kirstilä's first Hanhivaara thriller to appear in German. Kirstilä is one of the most renowned and successful Finnish crime writers and has twice been awarded the “Vuoden johtolanka” , the award for the best Finnish crime novel.
