Pepe Justicia

Pepe Justicia (* 1960 in Mancha Real , Jaén ; actually José Moreno Justicia ) is a Spanish flamenco guitarist.

Justicia taught herself to play guitar at the age of 12 . Justicia was based on classical guitar works by Tarrega , Albeniz, Sor or Aguado . His connection to the gypsies of his home region helped Justicia learn the rhythms, rules and essence of flamenco and define his own flamenco style.

After moving to Madrid at the age of 19, he returned to Andalusia in 1984, where he continued his career as a concert guitarist and with his own group, alone and together with other artists from Jerez . Since then Justicia have accompanied prominent Spanish flamenco singers and dancers from Jerez.

Conceptually influenced by Henry Vincent, Pepe Justicia has released eight albums so far, whose own compositions include various styles from classical flamenco, classical, jazz and pop; on the album Goldberg en flamenco he puts the Goldberg Variations in the context of flamenco. He is also with Chocolate, Enrique Morente , Rancapino, Turronero, Chano Lobato, El Capullo de Jerez, Perro de Paterna, Curro de Utrera, Gabriel Moreno, La Tati, Mariquilla, Carmen Cortes, Joaquín Grilo, Felipe Campuzano, Gerardo Núñez , Manolo Performed Sanlucar and Nina Corti . Since 2006 he has been a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Málaga .

Justicia won prestigious awards in the field of flamenco, for example the Premio Internacional de Guitarra Flamenca , Jerez 1987 and 1999, or the Premio Nacional de la Crítica for the best album of flamenco guitar music in 2003.
