Nina Corti
Nina Corti (born August 3, 1953 ) is a Swiss flamenco dancer.
She is the daughter of an Italian-Spanish father and a Russian-Polish mother and grew up in a music-dominated family as the only girl next to two brothers. Her father was a soloist with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , her mother also an artist. Her older brother Daniel Corti is a violist. After training as a goldsmith, she received a scholarship from the city of Zurich that enabled her to study classical Spanish dance and flamenco for four years in Madrid and Seville .
After that she was part of the ensembles of famous Spanish flamenco virtuosos such as Pepe Habichuela , Enrique Morente , the Ketamas , Guadiana , Manitas de Plata and Pepe Justicia . With the Gipsy Kings she had joint appearances. She has performed in the Semperoper , the Wiener Musikvereinssaal and the Royal Albert Hall , among others .
In addition to her performances, she passes on her knowledge as a lecturer and choreographer. She has headed the "Musica y Danza" program since 2012, where she works on choreographies with inspired dancers from the fields of classical Spanish dance, castagnette technique and flamenco dance.
In 2007 she was allowed to design a stamp for Swiss Post . The 85 centimes special stamp shows a drawn flamenco dancer. The brand is called Der Tanz . Corti is the first female celebrity ever to design a postage stamp for Swiss Post. Previously, the comedian Emil Steinberger , the musician Stephan Eicher and the artist Dimitri received this honor.
