Per Borin

Per Borin (* 1954 in Fellingsbro , Sweden ) is a Swedish conductor .

Borin received his first musical training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Finland with Eric Ericson and Jorma Panula . He also studied with Herbert Blomstedt and Franco Ferrara .

Borin made his operatic debut in 1985 at the Norrlandsoper in Umeå . This was followed by engagements at the Vadstena Academy and the Stockholm Folkoperan as well as the Royal Stockholm Opera . In 1996 he became general music director and musical-artistic director at the Theater Vorpommern in Stralsund and Greifswald . From 1998 to 2002 Borin worked at the Landestheater Flensburg / Schleswig as general music director. Since March 2000 he has been professor of orchestral conducting and the direction of the university orchestra at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and has also been a visiting professor at the Conservatory in Xian, China, since 2009. Per Borin has been teaching as a professor at the Royal Opera School / SKH in Stockholm since 2017. He conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic again and in 2020/21 will work with the Wermland Opera on CD recordings and choir productions, among others.
