The pink to reddish purple flowers are only open on one day and are often grouped in inflorescences of 2 to 12 individual flowers. They reach a diameter of 4 to 7 centimeters. Their bracts are spread out or bent back, the receptaculum is bumpy, especially in the upper half, and each has an areole. The often hanging, pear-shaped to top-shaped, fleshy fruits are green to yellowish green. They are 3 to 6 centimeters long and 3 to 5 centimeters in diameter.
