Perkins Park

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Perkins Park is a Stuttgart discotheque owned by adVenture Perkins GmbH.

Entrance area

The building in which the discotheque is located is on the edge of the Killesberg Park and was built in 1939 as a venue for the opening ceremonies of what was then the Reichsgartenschau . The discotheque opened on December 4th, 1980 and is still there today.

With this, Gerd Schüler and Michael Presinger realized a project that was based on the New York Studio 54 , as well as the Frankfurt Dorian Gray , which was also run by them. The noble disco is often visited by celebrities.

In addition to two dance floors and a smoking room, there is also a terrace and a bistro. The visual appearance of the premises has hardly changed from 1980 until today, only the technical facilities have been modernized over time.

history

The building was erected in 1939 for the opening ceremonies of the Reichsgartenschau . In the years to come, the park restaurant was a popular destination for dancing and entertainment until it closed in the late 1970s. Gerd Schüler and Michael Presinger showed interest in the vacant property in order to set up a discotheque. An agreement was quickly reached and the Perkins Park disco opened on December 4, 1980.

The final party of the European Athletics Championships 1986 took place in the disco. In addition, the Fantastischen Vier and Snoop Dogg celebrated there after their concerts.

In 2005 the building was completely renovated and modernized. Mainly the heating system, ventilation and air conditioning were renewed. The sound system in the big club was replaced by the Dynacord Alpha system. The basement was completely redesigned in 2007, new guest toilets and an additional cloakroom were installed. The lounge was completely redesigned and has been the third floor since then.
