The Pernic Bluff is an icy and 1060 m high cliff in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Churchill Mountains , it rises at the southern end of the Kelly Plateau and the Carlstrom Foothills . The mouth of the Flynn glacier and the Starshot glacier tower over 700 m of its total height .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the cliff in 2003 after the electrical engineer Robert J. Pernic by Herkes Observatory of the University of Chicago , who from 1991 to 2002, the research projects of the Center for Astrophysical Research in Antarctica ( Center for Astrophysical Research in Antarctica , CARA) at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station .
