Pero Tadić

Pero Tadić (born March 19, 1956 in Tomislavgrad ) is a former Yugoslav amateur light heavyweight boxer and bronze medalist at the 1982 World Cup.

Boxing career

He won the Yugoslav Championships in Split in 1981 , defeating Tadija Kačar 4-1 on points in the final . On December 10, 1981, he also beat the US National Golden Gloves Champion Jerry Goff in an international match . In 1982 he again won the Yugoslav Championships in Borovo , as well as the Balkan Championships in Bursa . He beat last year's Turkish winner Selâmi Karakelle in the final with a knockout in the second round.

He then took part in the 3rd World Championships in 1982 in Munich . After a bye in the preliminary round, he then defeated Clemente Ortiz from the Dominican Republic in the second round early in the second round. In the quarterfinals he prevailed 5-0 against the Czech Jaroslav Ligos and thus reached the semifinals, where he was defeated, however, against the Poland Paweł Skrzecz 1: 4 and was eliminated from the games with a bronze medal.

In 1983 he again won the Yugoslav Championships in Pristina and also started at the 25th European Championships in Varna , where he won a bronze medal. He also defeated the Bulgarian Olympian Kostadin Folew early in the third round in the quarter-finals, before losing to Vitaly Koschanowski from the Soviet Union in the first round in the semi-finals .

In 1985 he took part in the 26th European Championships in Budapest , where he was able to win a bronze medal again. After victories against Laszlo Virág from Hungary (5: 0) and Niels Madsen from Denmark (5: 0), this time he lost to Nurmagomed Schanawasow from the Soviet Union (0: 5) in the semi-finals .

On December 4, 1990, he played a professional match against Kalin Stojanow in Bulgaria, which he lost by knockout in the third round. After his active career, he worked as a manager for the Croatian national team in boxing.
