Localization of Brandenburg in Germany

The Perwenitzer Fernsehturm , commissioned in 1959, is a television tower in the state of Brandenburg , in the municipality of Schönwalde-Glien on the eastern edge of the village of Perwenitz . The tower is not far from the western federal highway 10 , the outer Berlin ring. The Berlin city limits are about ten kilometers to the south-east.

history

The 135 meter high television tower was built from reinforced concrete in the second half of the 1950s . Transmission systems were required for broadcasting German television broadcasting , which began on January 3, 1956. For example, towers with relay stations were designed at intervals of about 100 kilometers to ensure comprehensive coverage. The VEB Spezialbau Leipzig carried out the construction contract. The Perwenitzer Tower near Berlin was the second of a total of ten television towers built around the same time. The basket, the area of the platforms, was built on four floors. The tower, which opened on April 1, 1959, did not have a visitor platform.

At 135 meters, the Perwenitz TV tower is the tallest building in the Havelland district (as of June 2015). The relays for the transmission of the television program have been switched off for several years. The tower is primarily used for cellular communications .
