Petar Hristov Ilievski

Petar Hristov Ilievski , Macedonian : Петар Христов Илиевски (* 20th July 1920 in Bigor Dolentsi , Macedonian: Бигор Доленци, † 31 May 2013 in Skopje ) was a Macedonian linguist , philologist , Mykenologe and historians .

Ilievski studied at the University of Skopje . In 1956 he got a job at the chair of Classical Philology from Mihail D. Petruševski (Михаил Д. Петрушевски, 1911–1990) as an assistant for the historical grammar of Greek and Latin. After receiving his doctorate in 1961, he was appointed lecturer, in 1966 as associate professor and in 1971 as professor. In 1986 he retired.

Ilievski was elected a corresponding member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1979 and a full member in 1983 , and organized the eighth international colloquium on mykenology in Ochrid in 1985 .

In the mycenaean field, he worked on Mycenaean names and in particular on the occurrence of Illyrian personal names in the Linear B texts .

Another field of research was the history of the Orthodox Church in Macedonia and Old Church Slavonic .
