Petar Jelenić (born June 13, 1987 in Split , SR Croatia ) is a former tennis player from Croatia .

Career

Jelenić had promising results on the ITF Junior Tour for under 18s. With rank 7 he achieved his best placement there. At the Grand Slam tournaments in 2005 he had his best result with a semi-final in doubles at the US Open .

He quickly gained a foothold among the professionals and was in the finals of the third-class ITF Future Tour for the first time in 2006 . He won his first future title in doubles. He was also successful in the world rankings for his first year as a professional with 520 in singles and 643 in doubles. In the following years 2007 and 2008, however, he could not build on this and lost some places in the ranking. It was not until 2009 that he achieved an upward trend when he reached three finals at future level and also won his only single title there - in doubles he managed to win his second in the same year. Because of his rising form, he received a wild card from the tournament officials in Zagreb in 2010, making him his only appearance on the ATP Tour . Here he even won his first round match against qualifier Ilija Bozoljac and then lost to Michael Berrer . Shortly thereafter, he was in the world rankings with number 467 at his career high and ended his career in the same month. In this he had only participated in tournaments irregularly.
