The Peter A. Silbermann School is a state evening high school for adults in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf . The school is the oldest evening grammar school in Germany and was founded in 1927 by Peter A. Silbermann .

building

The current school building, erected between 1910 and 1912 according to a design by the architect Otto Herrnring , is listed as a monument in the Berlin State Monument List. The Friedrich-Ebert-Oberschule is also located in the same building .

Personalities

Mildred Harnack worked from 1932 to 1936 as an English teacher at what was then the Berlin evening school. The Harnacks' circle of friends also included Karl Behrens and Bodo Schlösinger , who were both Mildred Harnack's students at the Berlin evening grammar school. Together with students from the University of Potsdam, students from the school researched the story of Mildred Harnack and her colleagues and wrote a book about it.
