Otto Herrnring

Otto Herrnring (born August 22, 1858 in East Prussia ; † May 11, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German architect and construction clerk in Berlin. He is best known for the construction of numerous school buildings in Berlin-Wilmersdorf .

Life

Otto Herrnring was born as the son of Ferdinand Herrnring and his wife Wilhelmine.

In 1883, Herrnring began his studies at the TU Berlin . In 1884/1885 he was elected first chairman of the German Technical Student Union in Berlin , which also made him a member of the Technical University's committee. In 1888, as committee chairman, led the ceremony for the university's relocation to the new building in Berlin-Charlottenburg after the unification of the building and trade academy .

He was later transferred to Opole as a government builder ( Assessor ) , but soon returned to Berlin.

On November 24, 1891, he married his wife Margarethe Steindamm, with whom they had their only child, Helmuth, on January 6, 1895.

In 1896 he became a councilor for municipal development in Wilmersdorf, and in 1907, after being granted town charter, he became a councilor for municipal planning . After the formation of Greater Berlin in 1920, he also belonged to the district office of Wilmersdorf in this function.

On December 13, 1904, he was awarded the 4th grade Red Eagle Order.

On May 11, 1921 Otto Herrnring succumbed to the consequences of a stroke.

  • 1908 the German grammar school in Lodz (Poland)
  • 1909 the Fichte-Gymnasium
  • 1910–1912 the upper secondary school in Wilmersdorf
  • 1911 the fourth community school in Wilmersdorf
  • 1913–1914 the second Real Reform High School
  • 1913–1916 the Wilmersdorf Higher Girls' School
  • The construction of the Wilmersdorf crematorium (together with Walter Bettenstedt ; opened in 1922 and closed for incinerations in 1990)
  • the chapel on the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf
