Peter-Rudolf Zotl

Peter-Rudolf Zotl (born October 10, 1944 in Koethen ) is a German politician ( SED , PDS , Die Linke ).

Life and work

Peter-Rudolf Zotl graduated from the Extended Oberschule in 1963. This was followed by studies at the Pedagogical Institute in Dresden (later the Pedagogical University) to become an upper level teacher for history and German. In 1967 he passed his first state examination . From 1967 to 1972 he worked as a teacher and director in Köthen. Between 1972 and 1976 he was a scientific candidate at the Academy for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED in Berlin. In 1976 he submitted his dissertation and received the title of Dr. phil. This was followed by a position as senior assistant at the academy from 1976 to 1980. In 1980 he submitted his dissertation B ( habilitation ) on non-Marxist positions on the political system of the GDR . Since 1981 he has been working as a university lecturer.

He has been married to the psychologist Barbara Zotl since 1969 and has two children and three grandchildren.

politics

In 1964 Zotl joined the SED and was a member of the FDGB from 1976 to 1990 . After renaming, he remained a member of the PDS in 1990. From 1989 to 1999 he was deputy chairman of the PDS Berlin.

MP

From January 1991 to 2011 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . He was last elected (2006) in the constituency of Lichtenberg 2 . There he was deputy chairman from 1991 to 1993 and first chairman of the PDS parliamentary group from 1993 to 1995. He was a member of the committee for European and federal affairs, media, Berlin-Brandenburg, the committee for administrative reform, communication and information technology as well as the subcommittee for product budget and human resources of the main committee. He assumed the role of spokesman for regional, local and administrative policy for his group.
