Peter Arnold (born November 10, 1958 ) is a former German football player who, in addition to playing in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , only played second division football .

Athletic career

Peter Arnold played the first adult games in 1976/77 for 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in the junior league as a Libero . In 1979 he played his last four youth games in Leipzig , where he was sent off in the fourth game.

In November 1979 Arnold played for the first time in the second-rate GDR league as a conscript in the army sports community forward Dessau . There he developed into a regular player and was also used in Dessau in defense. By the end of his military service in April 1981, he came to 48 league appearances, in which he also scored two goals.

Then Arnold returned to 1. FC Lok Leipzig. In the 1981/82 season he was only used again in the junior league. In 1982/83 he was also part of the junior team. Only once, in the match on the 7th match day, was he used in the major league. In the game FC Vorwärts Frankfurt - 1. FC Lok (1: 1) he was substituted in for midfielder Wolfgang Altmann in the 40th minute .

For the 1983/84 season Arnold moved to the GDR league club Chemie Böhlen . He stayed there until the 1989/90 season and had 192 missions in 226 GDR league games played. He was mainly a defender but was also successful with seven goals. In addition, Arnold was used in six GDR cup games between 1986 and 1989. In 1986 he reached the second round with BSG Chemie, which the team lost 3-1 to the relegated league and later finalist Hansa Rostock away.

In his last GDR league season in 1989/90, Arnold played only eight league games until match day twelve, in which he was only four times in the starting line-up. So he had only a small share in the league ascent of BSG Chemie Böhlen. For the 1990/91 season, the soccer sections of BSG Chemie Böhlen and BSG Chemie Leipzig merged to form FC Sachsen Leipzig , in whose senior division Arnold no longer appeared. He also no longer appeared elsewhere in the upper league.
