Act
Hauser wrote articles for numismatic journals and gave lectures on them. He has been a court-sworn expert for the fields of philately, numismatics, medals and old paper money since the 1970s and headed the numismatic association in Linz for 30 years . He has been in contact with the Austrian Numismatic Society in Vienna since 1956 and has been a member since 1974. Hauser has also been a member of the Czechoslovak Numismatic Society since 1999.
Hauser played a key role in the inventory of Upper Austrian local medals and in the preparatory work for the special exhibition 1982 emergency money from Upper Austria in the Linz Castle Museum . He wrote the texts for the special exhibition in the Upper Austria Numismatic Collection. Landesmuseum hiking in Upper Austria.
Hauser's preferred collecting area is occasional medals that were minted in Austria-Hungary in the second half of the 19th century. His collection includes over 8,000 individual items, many of which have hardly been described before. With the catalog he created for this purpose, Hauser "not only set a monument to his collection, but also to himself."
Hauser presents his collection and his publications as part of lectures to an expert audience. In the last four decades he was able to amass one of the largest Austrian medal collections from the time of Maria Theresa to the present day. In 2018 Hauser published a catalog that documents around 4,400 objects from his private collection on 560 pages. All available editions of the Austrian Republic from its foundation in 1918 to the present day are described in detail in four main groups:
1. Republic of Austria, general issues, around 550 items 2. The federal states in alphabetical order, around 880 items 3. Vienna (as the state and federal capital), over 2,000 items 4. Austrian municipalities (approx. 600 names), over 2,000 items
It concludes with editions of various Austrian numismatic associations and the Austrian calendar medals since 1932.
His collection of medals was published again in 2020 with the 554-page description of objects on persons (nobility, politics, art, science, numismatics, private individuals - worldwide) and companies - companies - financial institutions - factories - hotels, etc. The third section is an extensive supplement to the "Austria 1918/2018" volume
Section 1 people - over 1,000 names on around 1,900 medals, plaques, tokens
Section 2 Companies - over 400 names on around 700 objects
