Peter Bandl

Peter Bandl (* 1959 ) is a German lighting designer who is a permanent member of the Burgtheater in Vienna .

life and work

Bandl completed his training as an electrician and began his theater career at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg . In 2000 he was engaged by Matthias Hartmann at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , in 2005 he followed him to the Schauspielhaus Zurich and in 2009 to the Burgtheater Vienna. In addition to Hartmann, Bandl has worked with other major directors in German-speaking countries, including Stefan Bachmann , Jan Bosse , Werner Schroeter and Nicolas Stemann . His lighting design for the Hartmann productions Onkel Wanja , War and Peace and The Last Witnesses , which were also invited to Wiesbaden , Berlin , Dresden and Hamburg , received special recognition .

At the Salzburg Festival in 2012 he was responsible for the lighting design of the opera The Magic Flute, two part. The labyrinth staged by Alexandra Liedtke and in 2013 for the Matthias Hartmann staging of Nestroys Der böse Geist Lumpazivagabundus , which then moved to the Burgtheater. Both productions were also recorded for television.
