Peter Borscheid

Peter Borscheid (born November 12, 1943 in Trier ) is a German historian .

Borscheid received his doctorate in 1974 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and completed his habilitation in the same year at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . From 1989 to 2009 he taught at a professorship for social and economic history at the Philipps University of Marburg . He was a member of the Federal Government's 6th Geriatric Report Commission . In 1994 he was co-founder and managing director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Gerontology and Applied Social Ethics (IGS) in Marburg . He was secretary and is an honorary member of the Marburg University Association .

Borscheid's research areas are the history of old age and old age provision , world economy and globalization , insurance history, company history and modern cultural history .
