Peter Nicholas Bradshaw (born June 19, 1962 ) is a British film critic and author . He has been the Guardian's chief film critic since 1999 . He is also an editor for Esquire .

Life

Peter Bradshaw was born in 1962. After attending the private Haberdashers 'Aske's Boys' School in Elstree near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, he studied English at Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge . After completing his bachelor's degree in 1984 and further research into the early modern era, he received his doctorate with his work The idea of ​​anatomy in the work of seventeenth-century prose writers.

Before joining the Guardian , Bradshaw was a columnist for the Evening Standard , where he wrote a parodic diary of the Conservative Alan Clark during the 1997 general election . In his role as the Guardian's chief film critic , a position he has held since 1999, he publishes a film & music review column every Friday. He is also an editor for Esquire and a regular guest critic for BBC One .

Bradshaw was a member of the jury for the Un Certain Regard series at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival . He is a member of the London Film Critics' Circle .

He has also published three books including The Films That Made Me ... with a selection of his film reviews, which was published by Bloomsbury Publishing in September 2019.
